Featured: real-time customer information
A passenger information system designed and built from scratch in under three months.
The customer information system displays live coach departure and arrival information on large screens at coach stations,. It remains in daily use at many coach stations across the UK.
Coach station controllers use a Windows Forms control application to allocate arriving coaches to stands dynamically and record actual arrival and departure times. A Windows Service exchanges timetable and service control data with the operator's other systems in real time.
The display manager is highly configurable so each station can have its own screen layouts, and the display software draws everything with GDI+ for crisp, flexible text. It is built on Microsoft .NET and SQL Server, and Cybertron provided the complete application and database design and development.
The same data also powers a SIRI real-time feed. Third-party operators and information providers use it to drive their own customer information displays at sites across the UK, so passengers see consistent, up-to-the-minute departure information wherever they travel.

Vehicle tracking and operations integration
Designed and built a RESTful ASP.NET Web API service integrating a vehicle tracking system with a large operator's operations system, giving the business a live, joined-up view of its fleet.
GPS vehicle tracking and fleet management
Designed and built a vehicle tracking and management application using GPS and digital mapping, giving a logistics operator a live view of its vehicles. Also built a location-based SMS messaging application.
Real-time SIRI stop-monitoring service
Built a SIRI-standard RESTful API returning real-time stop monitoring information to authorised third parties for use in customer information displays and journey-planning systems.
Timetable data feeds for third parties
Developed feeds publishing timetable data to Google for Google Maps, and an export of timetable data in industry-standard formats such as GTFS and ATCO-CIF for consumers including government bodies. We have built systems that both import and generate GTFS. Later designed new APIs exchanging timetable data between a European coach operator and its parent group.
Additional Vehicle Requirements (AVR)
Designed and developed the APIs and data services used to manage vehicles and related data for coach travel. Includes a RESTful web service used by a European coach operator to integrate with a SQL Server database and its parent group's coach travel reservations system.
Coach operations and payments system
Developed and maintained a mission-critical coach operations and financial system, managing and accounting for approximately £14 million in coach hire costs per month. The system allocates timetabled coach operations to coach operators, validates that the allocated journeys are operated, and drives the resulting payments. It supports tens of thousands of coach journey instances monthly, with financial records subject to audit and full accountability.
Includes extensive SSRS reporting, exports to the accounting system, interfaces with the vehicle tracking system, and barcode printing and scanning for document tracking.
Scheduled parallel ETL of complex timetable data
Designed and built a large interface application that takes complex timetable data from a new timetabling front end and feeds several disparate downstream systems through a scheduled, parallel ETL process.
Ingres to SQL Server conversions
Converted several business applications from Ingres to SQL Server, moving data, logic and reporting to a current, supportable platform while keeping the business running.
Operator and vehicle maintenance intranet
Designed and built a three-tier intranet application for maintaining operator and vehicle data, using ASP.NET, VB.NET and SQL Server.
Pricing, quoting and accounting reports
Specified and built suites of SSRS reports for a new sales pricing and quoting system and for an accounting system, plus a reports front-end intranet. Everything was documented in detail for handover to in-house support staff.
Production loss analysis
Specified, designed and built a configurable application used to analyse production processes and reduce waste, used at several sites in the UK and USA.
Case management enhancements
Designed custom enhancements to an intranet personal injury claims management system, with a consistent, attractive user interface.
Data warehouse and document workflow
Designed and built a large data warehouse, and a barcode-driven document workflow system for tracking documents through a business process.
Warehouse management system integration and reporting
Built queries and reports against a complex warehouse management database, customised the system for specific customer requirements, exported shipment data to a courier despatch system in XML using SQL Server's native XML support, and built a C# ASP.NET intranet application to interface with it.
